Joy! Joy is a difficult concept for many to grasp. We often confuse joy with happiness. They may sound synonomous but they aren't. Happiness is a looking to ourselves, where joy is other centered. In my narrow opinion, happiness is fleeting but joy is something that stays with us even in the midst of suffering. True joy connects us to our Creator. Joy is a gift and one to be treasured. Many things in life give me joy.
This group of hooligans give me great joy, every day.
And we all know I am a fool for this little bundle of pure joy! She is away right now and her Mimi is missing her.
Time spent doing this, gives me great joy. As well as sharing it with all of you.
"Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day."
-Henri Nouwen
Joy to you Martha. I am loving your alphabet posts.
ReplyDeleteI love them too, especially the stumpwork initial that looks just like the class I took from Jan Kerton - but I'm not finished.

I think the letter J is my favorite so far. Martha, you bring us joy. I can't tell you the number of times I have looked at your work and have been stuck with awe. Seeing skill like this and knowing that someone is sharing it so generously brings me joy.
