No Sewing for Me

I only wish this is what my thumb looked like. No sewing around here because I had a run in with a mandoline and the mandoline won! And to answer the first unasked question, yes I was using the cover knob. The problem is it wasn't as sharp as it needed to be,  just like rotary cutters and knives, dull is more dangerous than sharp.

Wish me luck, I have sewing to do.

  1. Oh Martha! I am so sorry. I cringed when I saw your blog photo. I hope your thumb heals quickly, pain goes away and your sewing is not impeded.

  2. Those accidents tend to happen before you know it. I'm sorry you had to go through all that. Maybe it won't be long before you can sew again. I'll sure you'll get creative and do some thumbless stitching. Or just planning and daydreaming.

  5. Ooooh, my stomach just dropped when I read how you hurt your thumb, Martha! I did that once too when I was first married and, although I still use my mandoline, I do so with the utmost respect now because I still remember how bad that hurt and how much it bled. Glad you weren't hurt worse! Those things can be dangerous! Hope you heal quickly.

  7. Martha... been there lately. You have my sympathy. So spend time surfing and making lists of what you would like to sew. I am not sewing as I am going to the gym to run for an hour... argh.

  11. Poor thing! Those accidents are expecially painful for those of us who had rather be sewing anyway!

  12. Oh, Martha, I hope the mandoline didn't slice too much off of your finger. I use mine a lot and it still scares the dickens out of me. I am always paranoid about the slicing finger potential. It gets my utmost respect. Hopefully it will heal up fast.

  13. Ouch Martha, heal fast. I never use ours, I'm too clumsy, my DH never uses the handle thing, one of these days....

  17. I'm not sewing right now either. Tendonitis does not mix with sewing and I'm bandaged up on the right.....Hope your thumb is better quickly!
