No Sewing for Me
I only wish this is what my thumb looked like. No sewing around here because I had a run in with a mandoline and the mandoline won! And to answer the first unasked question, yes I was using the cover knob. The problem is it wasn't as sharp as it needed to be, just like rotary cutters and knives, dull is more dangerous than sharp.
Wish me luck, I have sewing to do.

Oh Martha! I am so sorry. I cringed when I saw your blog photo. I hope your thumb heals quickly, pain goes away and your sewing is not impeded.
ReplyDeleteThose accidents tend to happen before you know it. I'm sorry you had to go through all that. Maybe it won't be long before you can sew again. I'll sure you'll get creative and do some thumbless stitching. Or just planning and daydreaming.
ReplyDeleteHoping it feels better with each passing day! In the meantime, you can dream of even more beautiful confections to create!
ReplyDeleteOuch, Martha :( Prayers for quick healing.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, my stomach just dropped when I read how you hurt your thumb, Martha! I did that once too when I was first married and, although I still use my mandoline, I do so with the utmost respect now because I still remember how bad that hurt and how much it bled. Glad you weren't hurt worse! Those things can be dangerous! Hope you heal quickly.
ReplyDeleteUGH! I hope it isn't hurting too much. Good luck with the sewing that needs to get done.

Martha... been there lately. You have my sympathy. So spend time surfing and making lists of what you would like to sew. I am not sewing as I am going to the gym to run for an hour... argh.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your mishap. Hope it heals fast.
ReplyDeletehope you have a sppedy recovery!! Ouch!! I know that hurt!!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Hope you heal up soon.
ReplyDeletePoor thing! Those accidents are expecially painful for those of us who had rather be sewing anyway!
ReplyDeleteOh, Martha, I hope the mandoline didn't slice too much off of your finger. I use mine a lot and it still scares the dickens out of me. I am always paranoid about the slicing finger potential. It gets my utmost respect. Hopefully it will heal up fast.
ReplyDeleteOuch Martha, heal fast. I never use ours, I'm too clumsy, my DH never uses the handle thing, one of these days....
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so sorry about your thumb! Prayers for swift healing so that you can get back to what you love to do best!
ReplyDeleteI hope it heals very quickly!!! Ouch!
ReplyDeleteI've done that before! You'll be up and running before you know, in the meantime...enjoy the tea (have you tried Harney & Sons Chocolate Mint, Vanilla or Paris...all yummy)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sewing right now either. Tendonitis does not mix with sewing and I'm bandaged up on the right.....Hope your thumb is better quickly!
ReplyDeleteOH MY goodness....around my house it is not a holiday meal unless there is a part of me in it...happens quick. Wishing you quick and blessed healing so you can stitch. Karin
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your accident-- I literally have felt your pain. Twice.
ReplyDeleteI have been forbidden to touch the mandoline ever again. Heal quickly!
Oh, dear, Martha, I hope your thumb heals quickly! Ouch!
