A work in progress

No I have not forgotten you, faithful reader. I have been up to my neck in turning a former teenage refuge into my new sewing room. Here is just a tiny taste of what I hope is finished SOON. Above is the room as my youngest child left it. Tone on tone dark pink walls. Painted furniture that I painted years ago. And this picture does not do the nastiness of this carpet justice. It makes you wonder just how many colors of nail polish there are. And how many mortgage payments could have been made with the amount of it in the carpet. How do you sling hot lime green nail polish UNDER the bed? Far into the corner? Inquiring minds wonder.

This is when the project FEELS like it is moments from being done. Energy is high and you are anxious to see the end result.

So close yet so far away. Here is a peek. Laminate floors, new baseboards and the walls a cool, calm, seaglass blue. In the corner is Gertrude waiting for the room to be complete. I will take more pictures after it is all put together.

I need this room done, NOW! I have sewing to do. My sewing machines are sitting in the floor right now. I have to get back to it. Later, faithful reader.

  2. I love the blue walls, I may just use something similar. I may just use wood tiles for the floor. It's so nice to have a hard floor in a sewing room. Can't wait to see the whole thing! What are you doing to the closet?

  5. I adore my children but I have never suffered from empty nest syndrome. I did the same thing to the room of the last one that flew out of my nest. You will thoroughly enjoy your new sewing abode. It will be both beautiful and functional. Congratulations!

  6. Love it! I feel your pain about redoing it. We are in the process of painting our daughters' rooms. One is done, the other a work in progress. Can't wait to have them together again!! Dd 12 is helping but the orange paint on the cream colored carpet is not exactly the help I had in mind:(

  7. I am truly excited to see your project and can totally understand the "I can't wait" attitude. You will be amazed at how much more productive you can be when you can just leave things and shut the door. Can't wait!

  8. I love the seagrass color. Very calming and pretty. Also , how wise you are to have that flooring. I so wish I had not put carpet in my sewing room. Poor husband does too, he stepped on an 11 sharp a couple of days ago. Yikes!! I still feel bad about that. Some times it just does not pay to economize

  9. I love my wood floors in the sewing room. I love wood floors all the time. Love the color of your walls. If I had not wanted to play down the fugly walls in my room I might have picked a calmer color. Mine still make me smile though. Enjoy your new space.
