Saturday Stumpwork

First posted at Kay Dennis Stumpwork

Just a quick peek at some gorgeous stumpwork. It is a 3-d piece based on the knot gardens by Owen Davies.

This is a closer peek at one of the inside corners. Love it. It is amazing what can be done with a needle and thread.

This "stonework" sun on the outer brick wall with its cushion of hydrangeas underneath make me smile.

  1. Martha, this question has nothing to do w/ stump work. I'm new to ur blog thru Creations by Michie. Wen I saw. Ur southern matriarch description I knew I had the best source to find an answer. My granddaughter is the flower girl in her aunt's wedding this Saturday , May 11. We've been deliberating as to whether she should go barefoot or wear tights and white Mary Jane type does. She's wearing an heirloom dress that comes to her ankles. She is 3 1/2 yrs old. And the weather will be warm. Can u help us out? Hopefully! Contact rdbrannan73@comcast.net
    Thanks so much!!

  2. I love the stumpwork. My mother did crewel embroidery many years ago, in which she did many similar stitches. Amazing.
