With linen you count threads so it is easier to get a nice even shape. The tucks are very wide, not pin tucks at all. The finished tuck is half inch and they are done by hand, hemstitching in place. You can do pintucks by machine without a pintuck foot. For folded tucks use your edge stitching foot for uniformity.

I am always taking requests for tutorials. The next one up is shell stitch.Marthahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14642210833712724301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2898436565218178652.post-36231147166015486102008-07-11T13:25:00.000-05:002008-07-11T13:25:00.000-05:00This daygown is so beautiful! I am enjoying your ...This daygown is so beautiful! I am enjoying your posts so much and appreciate the time it must take to put the tutorials together. I still feel strange writing people I don't know through blogs, but I just felt moved to say thank you! I found your blog somehow through an heirloom sewing search--I am a beginner heirloom sewer. I just made a batiste daygown using pintucks, and I'm interested that your tucks here are larger. They look so nice! I don't have a pintuck foot so this might be a good alternative for me to adapt my pattern--my painstakingly measured pintucks looked OK but not perfect. I do have one question if you happen to have a moment--did you do the buttonholes by hand or by machine? (And I guess a followup question--If you are still taking requests for tutorials, would you consider doing a buttonhole or pintuck tutorial?) In any event hope you have a great weekend and thank you for your blog!
